Alberta Cancer Foundation With both of us having cancer survivors in our immediate families, our second charity is the Alberta Cancer Foundation (sorry, no fancy automated counting graphic here). Without cancer research, that first sentence would read very differently and our lives wouldn’t be what they are today. The Alberta Cancer Foundation’s mission is to deliver progress in cancer research, prevention, treatment and care by generating community investment for Alberta’s coordinated research strategy, the Cross Cancer Institute, Tom Baker Cancer Centre and 15 other cancer centres throughout the province. The CNCF is an international partnership of people dedicated to serving underprivileged children with the hope of helping each child maximize their life potential. Our programs in Vietnam and Mongolia seek to protect children at risk of economic and sexual exploitation, while ensuring these and other children in need have access to basic care and educational opportunities. The programs include: emergency and long-term medical care, nutritional rehabilitation, educational and vocational training and job placement. This is accomplished within the context of the family and the community whenever possible, and always with love and respect for the dignity of each child as an individual. The Mongol Rally has been a partner of the CNCF for many years now and teams have helped to raise hundreds for thousands of dollars to help improve the quality of life of kids in Mongolia.
