Teams can win an award for the biggest, most useless item they strap to their car for the trip (see the pic of the Mini from 2007 in our Flickr Gallery - they strapped a London phone booth to their roof!).

Well Nick from fellow 2011 hopeful team, "The 3rd Rock" gave me the brilliant idea of strapping an air hockey table to the roof of our car after I posted on my Facebook about getting one at home. Friggin BRILLIANT if I do say so, and with a simple power inverter that you can buy everywhere these days, we can even play some air hockey in the middle of the Gobi!

Well I'm sold!... but to find a cheap/free air hockey table in the UK... hmmm.
