Well that’s a hit to the wallet. It’s no wonder so many North American teams look at finding a car in the UK instead of shipping something over.

Today I got an email back about an early estimate from two shipping companies and damn is it pricey to get a car over to the UK. To rent a twenty foot container and get the car shipped from Edmonton to Liverpool would run us $3890(US) including port charges, but not counting taxes, duty and some other stuff like loading/unloading and blocking/bracing the car (this is if we were shipping the car for this year’s rally). OUCH! That’s four times what we hope to pay for the car itself!

Turns out that we may have an contact in England through friends of Jeff’s wife Cyndi. We’ll see what happens though and compare come costs later on.

hey guys…if you are looking to get a car in North America and get it to the UK, it will generally be cheaper to send it to Southampton. Also, if you are WILLING to drive it to the east coast and ship directly from there to the UK it will only cost about $800 US for containerized shipping.

We shipped our vehicle Roll-On Roll Off this past year and it was 19 ft long, 10 ft tall, 7.5 ft wide and it cost us about $1700.

Email me if you guys want more info. GOOD LUCK! This will be the most awesome thing you do!
